The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission was established on March 13, 2003 through a legislative Act of the Government of Bangladesh. The commission became effective on April 27, 2004 with the appointment of two, of the five member commission including the chairman. The 1st Chairman was appointed on june 4, 2005.
The commission has the mandate to regulate Electricity, Gas and Petroleum products for the whole of Bangladesh
